History

Produce Cartons Supplies was established in 1970 by a dedicated, local tomato grower, and the President of the South Australian Tomato Association, Jim Strangio.

As such, Jim keenly understood the growers’ needs to get produce to market in the best possible condition. So much so that, in 1968, Jim developed a tomato carton that helped growers survive and flourish in the state’s fledgling tomato industry.

Needless to say, fruit and vegetable growers were soon asking Jim to create similar solutions for their businesses. From his Croydon Park market garden in 1990, Jim and his son Pat were soon supplying plastic bags, stretch film, tape, strawberry punnets and labels for a variety of growers.

Since moving to Virginia into the heart of SA’s major fruit and vegetable growing area in 1995, the demand for innovative and quality packaging has not stopped.

Since then, an onsite manufacturing facility, an expansive new warehouse and the inclusion of Jim’s second son Tony have been the key reasons behind Produce Cartons Supplies growth.

Suffice to say, the future growth box is ticked already!
